Another thing if you want to look at your portfolio in general you can look at the level it's selling at. Notice that the more they sell the higher the level. Then the little swirly changes color as the levels change. You can sort your portfolio by that as well also
Can somebody please direct me to where on dreamstime the rules are for when you do and do not need a model release.
Do you need them for editorial images?
What about if they're not facing you?
What about if they're a celecbrity or politician?
I just spent the last 1/2 hour searching for the rules and can't seem to find the right place.
Thanks
I would chop off a little on the right. You have a bit of empty space there. Make sure you tone down the bright area on the wall too. My eyes are jumping back and forth between the back of her and the wall bright spot.
I also agree with the white t-shirt handing out. It makes her look sloppy and send a different message. Perhaps you can clone it out?
Take another look at your rejected images. isthere another way to crop them perhaps? What about adding space to the direction the plane is going into. It they look like a snapshot and you don't feel the plane moving then I can understand their point. Wht about taking the refused images and adding a motion blur to them and then resubmit under a different title?
Just a few thoughts

I have this one may be able to get more
Are you looking for all three in 1 image or each seperately?
Edited by Admin: those images don't match requirements.
When you reply to a post a little box pops up with 5 icons. Click the middle box (it's aqua and green). Type in the image id and hit return.
Then it should automatically populate your response
I went to the link that was provided and it says that the tutorial has been archived already. This is a new post. It also directed me to click here if I still wanted to look at the tutorial. I did that and then it took me to a site that said basically. Site isn't quite ready should be up and running in 1-2 days.
So much for getting this tutorial tonight.
Thanks for all your time and effort answering my question.
I'm kind of leaning the 40D way but will definatly have to take a trip to the store to see if it's too much for me to hand. I've handled like the 5D and it was too heavy for me to hand hold and stabilize.

I went to Slippery Rock in AZ on vacation and took my good Canon Rebel Xi (that was my best camera at the time). As I was walking along I lipped and fell into the creek (they don't call it slippery rock for nothing). I went in and so did my camera. I came out the camera did not. Thankfully, I had my old Rebel original sitting waiting in the car. Yes, I lost a few images from that morning down the creek but still had my back up for the rest of the vacation.
Even before two digital I always took a back up. They're all electronics. With Murphy around the corner waiting to spring his law into effect on you.
Now I have two cameras I take all times. Basically so I don't have to change lens'. Especially if you're out doors and you don't want dust etc getting on your sensor etc. So put thelens you think you'll use the most that day on your best camera and off you go.
Currently I have two Canon Rebels the original (only 6 MP) and the Xi (8.3 MP). I'd like to move up to something a little better but am stuck. I don't know if the 40 D is worth all the extra money over the Rebel XTi or XSi
I have a ton of CF cards so am a little hesitant about going XSi because it uses SD cards.
Can anybody give me any thoughts?
If you have Photoshop CS3 and Bridge for CS3 you can open any image in Camera Raw from Bridge. Just select and image in Bridge. Then go to file and slide down to Open in RAW.
Then many of the same tools for RAW are available to you also. That may help a little.
Another thing to try is in Photoshop AFTER duplicating the original layer, go to image adjustments and try Sadow/Highlight. That sometimes helps a little also.
I think it's a great image. However I wonder how it would look if you got rid of the 3rd (most rigt) jelly fish and made it a square format. Kind of a major and minor subject idea.
Nice contrast and tonality
Nice set of images. You have great color in your sky pictures.
They just look out of their element. Also the shadow on the left side of the large horse is much darker than that of the colt.

These images don't seem to be getting very many views. I hope key mentoring keywords will help. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
You have a nice set of images posted. I agree though. You definately need more added to fill up your portfolio.
Wow! though 15 sales and only 38 images is still darn good.
Yes, I had a similiar problem where I had 7 images accepted yet all the refused were posted but no accepted so my ratio was fluky. I wrote to support about it and they said they had corrected it.
I'd suggest you write to them about it. You could include ids if you want to but I didn't spend the time and the problem got resolved.
I think it depends on what market you're trying to appeal to.
If you're in the mountains you could put under nature to try to appeal to nature phtography enthusiasts. If there's any kind of path in the image you could put it in industries-sports for hiking. If they're famous or well traveled mountains you could also put it under the travel catagory.
I think you're best be though would be to leave it under mountains. Then if a travel agent is looking for it or a sports enthusiasts if they type in mountains as a keyword the image should show up.
More importantly though is to have good keywords to cover ALL possible buyers ie hiking, camping,,travel,nature,wild,wilderness....
Hope that helps
Clarsen 55,
The only way I know of to discretely talk to another photographer about an image or comment on keywords is to open the specific image. Then on that screen there is a comment area. You can send them a personal message there. If the mis spelled keywords really really bother you then open the image and simply "report bad keywords".
I like the new and different ideas. They're clever.
With only 10 images and alaready 2 sales that's a great % on images online to sales ratio.
Another thing is that it's an empty microphone so designers can put any face they want next to it. Plus there's lots of room for text below if desired.
That would be my guess
I requested payment from another site that I work with and it took 1 week for it to get applied to my PayPal account.
Don't forget here is nothing that happens in the banking world on weekends when it comes to paying out.
You may have more competition here also.
Nice collection of stuff though.
You're doing great for the number of uploaded images you have only 26 images and 7 downloads. That's a great %. Mine is nowhere near that! Congrats!
Welcome Eric,
You work with alot of people. They love people pics here too. If they're recognizable make sure you get a release though.
Pretty abstract thinking in your images. They're different nice touch.
Wecome and good luck
Welcome and good luck.
There is a forum called Positive criticism if you ever want people to check out your portfolio and critic.
Matt,
You have the right type of portfolio. Buyers LOVE people
Good luck and welcome aboard.
Like your images.
In the future, I didn't know if you knew we have a Positive Criticism forum area. You may get more specific feedback to your images/portfolio if you post your request there also.
Welcome to Dreamstime.
Good Luck.
Don't get discouraged if you don't sell alot at first. You have a specialized portfolio so will need buyers that are looking for specifically toys etc,
I'd like to see

I agree. Auto populate is great! The only thin we allo have to be careful of is if we take a series of images similiar say of a bunch of fruit. Then eliminate one of the fruits.... When we autopopulate we have to remember to eliminate that fruit or item out of the keywords. Otherwise if somebody's looking for an orange and I've taken it out of the image yet left it in the keywords it will clog up the system for images that do include an orange.
It seems like the queue time flextuates from the initial quote. I've had images that were initally uploaded with the lead time of let's say for example 46 hours. Then the next day I look and it says 45 hours left pending. Well it's 24 hours later so one would hope my review time would have been 22 left. That tends to get stretched out if it says initally x number of hours and realistically those hours will be over a weekend or holiday. The it just gets's put on hold.
Yes, they work on reviewing on the weekend it seems but they are most likely lower in staff count like most work places.
I just upload my images and hope. Then sit and wait.
You already have 1 sale and you only have 6 images uploaded. That's a great percentage!
It's hard to say when buyer will come along and want that extended liscense period much less want your image. I'd suggest just adding images to your portfolio and enjoy the sales you're getting.
You only have 128 images online right now. I didn't see an average of 1 sale/day much less an extended liscense till I had at least around 170.
Remember things seem to come in cycles what they market is looking for.
Good luck! You've got a nice combination and don't seem stuck to one specific theme (ie flowers, architecture....) that will also help cross different types of buyers desks.
Keep up the good work
Thanks for the clarification.
I really just posted my story so that others who may have signed up as exclusive photographers and may have thought the same as me that it was a mistake on my part. I admit that.
Where would be the best place to post a "don't let this happen to you message then"?
I'm not against DT. I just wouldn't the same thing to happen to somebody else. I understand that if you give them 30 days notice you can become a non exclusive photographer. I wanted to let other newbies know that if they also had misinterpreted the contract there are other ways to solve it.
I posted the second thread prasing DT because I don't believe they're bad just good business people and like always "the devil's in the details".
Please advise me for future use where to put stuff like this. Thanks in advance
Cute p[ortfolio. It's a nice mix of scnery and buildings. My only suggestion would be on the scenics to try to use a polorizer to get more saturation in the sky.
Also, your image of the doggy sniffing. Did you try to clone out the leaf that's by his ear? It's a little distracting.
Obviously all good images as they are as they are because they were accepted by the editors here as is.
hee hee . Good sense of humor George
I have talked to the customer service and they have agreed to give me back the moeny from my sales as if I had been only a person who signed up with my images exclusivily. So I got $68 back.
Thanks to them for understanding human error.
BUT once again. if you sign up as an exclusive photographer your refused images are not able to be used anywhere else. Mind you if you have an acceptance ratio of 96% it probably doesn't mean many images. However if you're like me with a 37% ratio there would be alot of images left in my recycle bin.
I'll just rephrase my earlier message now that I'm calmed down.
When you sign up as an Exclusive Photographer you can not use those images elsewhere with another agency. I mistakenly misunderstood the contract and offered my refused images to another agency. What it caused me was and the support group was a bunch of unnecessary hassle. This hassle could have been completely avoided had I understood the contract completely to begin with. oops
Read the fine print.
Thanks for the help.
anybody else have any images I can work on?
Palangsi, your's are fun and a challenge. Thanks for the opportunity.
Nice color density in your images.
Love the fruits and vegetables especially.
These are fun I hope my words help you guys
Right I know I can set the price.
BUT I did not set a higher price than the $350. Yet if I go under Your Earnings and click on the image and look at the Sell your rights it has a price of $750.
My sales for July were actually just a little better than June but I did add 40 images.
Rabbitsfoot - that's a great number. My highest is .75 hee hee
I've noticed a little bit of down time. Usually in the morning EST.
I'm a little confused as to where the Prices for extended liscenses are coming from. Espeically for the "Sell the Rights"
When I look at "your uploads" at some of my images and check the sell your rights prices it's sell at $350 or suggested price of $0. Yet when I look at these same images with only 1 download on them at the Sell your rights under "Your Earnings" the Sell your rights prices shows $750. What does the potential puyer really see? Why aren't both prices the same?
Perhaps they were credited for July if you submitted them then?
Welcome aboard, nice collection to start with
Judy,
The best advice I can say is to upload upload upload upload lots of QUALITY images. Don't just grab stuff to try to increase your number of uploads you still have to be a little picky on quality. However, the more you have upload the more probability of a sale....
Remember to try t diversify a little that way your portfolio may attract a different schme of buyers not just food or landscape....
Third before you upload to DT for review check out the catagory to see if it's unipque. Images can be refused due to overabundance in a catagory. The you get your acceptance ration affected and if may have been a great image just already have enough here.
Somewhere on here there's a list of most desired catagories but I'm not sure where it is. Perhaps somebody else after me can supply the link?
Shoot shoot shoot... people people people they love them too.
Did it work? Did you get the payout when you expected? :-)
Thanks for the info. I always thought my portfolio exposure was basically about how much of my portfolio gets viewed per day.
Thanks to anybody and everybody who can help me with my keywords for images.
TTvs, I forgot to mention that there is already an exisiting thread for keymentor request. I think the site moderators are trying for us to stick to that thread. It's on the same Positive Criticism board and was started by Imagiodix. There you can post your images and people will gladly look at them for mentoring.
You post your images directly by replying to the thread and then inserting the image withing the reply. You can click on the blue square and type in the image number (you must have it before you start your reply) or you can use the blu orb to connect to a hyperlink.
Hope this helps.
Photography is such a competitive field. However, we all have to remember that even if you have a SIMILIAR image to somebody else it is never EXACT. Designers can be very specific when they are searching for something. Two platters of deviled eggs may have slightly different lighting, angle of shot..... that will appeal to a different buyer.
Helping the others with their keywording also feels good and if your words are chosen then you can make .02 per image. Big deal .02? It's more of a bonus. There's alot of us who would do it anyway.
Comrodery in the community helps each photographer in the long run.
I have a few images that need some help. I'd really appreciate it because they're not getting many views.
Turer words were never spoken. It also seems to relate to how large the files are themselves. I've had incidences where I've submitted 10 images at a time and 8 showed up and then 2 larger ones showed up a few hours later even thought hey were all in the same batch.
Welcome aboard.
Keep up the good graphics!
Nice images of people. The site always seems to be loking for people pictures.
Hi Teresa,
You mentioned that you specialize in macro flowers those are always beautiful. My only suggestion to you is to be careful what flower images you submit. The site has oodles of them and I'd hate for you to get rejected because the catagory is full. So make sure they're unique shots. The isolated shots see to work well also.
You have some nice images. I hope the site likes you too.
By clicking on the Comments unread you'll automatically be taken to your comments sections. There you will find any comments anybody posted on your images. Comments could include criticism, advice, collections that your image has been added to blah blah
I've never noticed a trend in mine regarding if it's the new uploads or the older uploads that get downloaded when I submit new stuff. However, I do see a trend that when I submit and get accepted (even though my ratio stinks I still try) more sales follow soon after.
A weird phenomenon yes but I'll take it
Wish I knew myself. I think they get selected while in review but not sure. Perhaps it's more of the # of downloads angle?
I shoot about 100/month. I guess that averages out to about 3 a day. Out of those 100 I usually only pick about 5. I guess that's why I only have 151 uploads. :-)
I've found that whenever I'm on vacation now with my digital camera and family. I shoot shoot shoot much of the time. It's the "Oh look how cute Daniel looks doing _____" shot and five minutes later "Oh they might like that for stock" to the cliche "got to have that shot for myself.
Thanksfully, I LOVE shooting images so yes some is for business but it's all still fun.
It's so nice to work with a bunch of people with a good sense of humor.
Thanks for the compliment
